From Norton Priory Museum & Garden

Of the 228 leather objects found on site most are soles or fragments of shoes, dating from the medieval period through to the 18th-century. Most of the soles are very badly worn with some showing signs of repairs. Only one shows some decoration with rows of slashed chevrons. It is a low sided shoe which was popular in the 14th century
